Planning an event? One of the biggest things people overlook isn’t music… it’s power.

As a DJ, I’ve seen events run flawlessly—and I’ve seen them scramble last minute because no one asked the right questions about power and setup.

Here are 5 technical questions you should ALWAYS ask your venue:

⚡ 1. Where are the power outlets located?

You’d be surprised how often the DJ setup area is nowhere near power.

👉 Extension cords can help—but planning ahead keeps things clean and safe.

🔌 2. Are the outlets dedicated circuits?

If the DJ is sharing power with:

  • Catering 🍽️

  • Lighting 💡

  • Bars 🍻

…you risk blown breakers and dead music 😬

🎚️ 3. How much power is available?

Professional sound systems, lighting, and add-ons need reliable power.

  I had the honor of providing a Photo Booth for AMWINS for the second time — and once again, it was an amazing experience at one of the coolest venues in North Texas, WJ Ranch in Celina .
