DJ Tommy Scott Receives Great Feedback from the Plano West JROTC Military Ball

One of the most rewarding parts of being a DJ is hearing that the event made a lasting impression on the people who attended. After the recent Plano West Wolfpack Battalion JROTC Military Ball, I received a message that truly made my day.

The feedback mentioned that the event received many compliments from cadets and parents, and most importantly from Colonel Aikens. Hearing that the leadership, students, and families all enjoyed the event is the best possible outcome for a night like this.

Events like the Plano West JROTC Military Ball are especially meaningful because they celebrate the dedication and achievements of the cadets. It’s an honor to provide the music and help create an atmosphere where everyone can celebrate together.

Even more exciting, the organizers have already indicated they would like to invite me back next year. The tentative date for the next Military Ball is January 30th, pending approval from the district. Once that date is confirmed, we’ll begin planning another memorable evening.

I truly appreciate the opportunity to work with such an outstanding group of students, parents, and leadership.

If your school, military organization, corporate event, or wedding needs a professional DJ who can keep the event organized, energetic, and fun, I would love to help.

Clean vs. Explicit Music: What Couples Should Know

Image
Music sets the tone for your wedding—so choosing between clean and explicit versions of songs is a bigger deal than most couples realize. As a professional wedding DJ, I see this come up at almost every planning meeting. Here’s what you need to know so your dance floor stays fun, respectful, and stress-free. 🎧 What Does “Clean” Really Mean? Clean versions remove or replace: Profanity Sexual references Drug or violence-related lyrics They keep the energy and beat of the original song—just without the awkward moments when Grandma is standing next to the flower girl. 🔥 Why Explicit Music Can Be Risky Even if you and your friends love the original versions, remember: Your guest list includes all ages Parents, grandparents, coworkers, and kids are listening Some lyrics can offend or make guests uncomfortable One bad word at the wrong moment can shift the entire vibe of the room. 💍 What Most Couples Choose Most couples ask for: Clean edits during dinner, cocktail hour, and family...

How to Balance Old School & Modern Music at a Wedding

Image
By DJ Tommy Scott – Your Dallas Wedding DJ One of the biggest questions couples ask me is: “How do we make everyone happy on the dance floor?” You’ve got grandparents who love Motown and classic rock, friends who want throwback hip-hop, and a younger crowd ready for today’s hits. The good news? You don’t have to choose sides. A great wedding DJ knows how to blend old school and modern music so the dance floor stays full all night. Here’s how I do it 👇 🎶 Start with Familiar, Build the Energy Early in the reception, I like to ease everyone in with songs that cross generations—think timeless classics that instantly feel comfortable. This helps guests of all ages warm up before the energy ramps up. Once the dance floor is moving, that’s when we start layering in newer music and higher-energy tracks. 🔄 Mix Eras, Don’t Segregate Them Instead of playing 20 oldies in a row and then switching to all modern hits, I blend eras together . A classic sing-along followed by a current favo...
